Mold  Assessment/Inspection 
Cost Estimate and Scope of Work

It is not realistic to estimate the cost of a project without specific information and client requirements. However the following are scope of work and the two most common examples of assessments.

A. Screening: When the purpose of assessment is to screen whether or not the mold is present

1. Visual Inspection

2. Temperature and Humidity measurement, Moisture measurement 
   (if needed)

3. Surface sampling. Limited sampling (2-3 samples if needed)

4. Inside the wall cavity inspection (2" to 4" diameter cuts are made on suspect surfaces to identify the source/extension of the intrusion)

5. Minimum two non-viable microbiological air samples are collected inside and at least one sample outside the unit

6. Analytical results review

7. Report writing

B. Microbiological Air Sampling assessment/Species identification: When a residence makes health complaint or the case requires identification and evaluation of harmful species more thorough assessment is required.

1. Visual Inspection

2. Temperature and humidity measurement/Moisture measurements 
   (if needed)

3. Surface sampling. Limited sampling (2-3 samples if needed)

4. Inside the wall cavity inspection (2" to 4" diameter cuts are made on suspect surfaces to identify the source/extension of the intrusion surface samples may be collected and submitted to the laboratory for analysis)

5. Minimum two non-viable microbiological air samples are collected inside and at least one sample outside the unit.

6. Two to three viable microbiological air samples inside and one outside the unit.

7. Analytical results review.

It is not realistic to estimate the cost of remediation for a project without site inspection and assessment.
